What our emotions are telling us:

Emotions —> E-Motion —> Energy-In-Motion —> Internal Messengers

Whether we like it or not, emotions are ALWAYS present. Like a wave, they travel through us when needed and there is nothing we can do about it. We can ignore or suppress them, but we can not avoid them.  

Our emotions are our internal guides. They are the messages from our soul. They tell us what is in and out off alignment between what we experience AND our values and belief system. 

It’s a subtle dialogue between your soul and yourself. And as for every subtlety, the significance and essence of the message lies in the hint.  

But can you read between the lines of your emotions when they occur? For those who get lost in translation, here are some indications on how to interpret your feelings:

  • Joy: shows you what fuels and nourishes your soul. Shows you what you should do more often.

  • Bitterness: shows you where you need to heal, where you’re still holding judgment on others and yourself.

  • Resentment: shows you in which part of the past you are living and shows you that you are not allowing the present to be as it is.

  • Discomfort: shows you that you need to pay attention right now to what is happening because you’re being given the opportunity to change, to do something different than you typically do. shows you the boundaries of your comfort zone. 

  • Anger: shows you what you’re passionate about and what your values are.

  • Disappointment: shows you that you tried to do something that you did not give in to apathy, that you still care.

  • Guilt: shows you that you still living life in other’s people’s expectations of what you should do.

  • Shame: shows you that you are internalizing other people’s beliefs about who you should be (or who you are) and that you need to reconnect with yourself.

So next time you have a big wave traveling through you, instead of trying to run away from it, sit with it, look for the messages lying underneath that emotion. Try to make your way to the source. Stay with the feeling. Deal with it. Treat it like a guest, not an intruder. Let it stay as long as it needs. And when it is ready, let it go at its own pace and close the loop. 

Remember that the whispers of your soul are all the guidance you need to reach happiness and peace, as long as you are willing to pay attention to it.
